What wire are you using? I am using a wire called "easy grind" it is available through any welding supply and the smallest spool it comes in is the 11 pound size. You will need to use the large center adapter that should have come with your welder

I just switched over to it for all my welding below 3/16th thick. it flows out flatter and it does grind a lot better and it hammer welds almost as good as torch welding. Check it out and give it a try. I'm interested in how the Eastwood welder works.

Gregg, once you start I think you'll find yourself getting a bottle of gas twice as big as the one you have!! Won't be too much and you might be able to hand that one over to reduce the price of the larger one.

One of those frustrating things to be all set up to work and realize you're running low on shielding gas - especially on the weekend. Grrrr!

Easy grind is easier to work with when finishing but you still have to weld properly to benefit from it's '3x the normal price of Mig wire' price.

I wasn't sure what size bottle to get so I leased this one. it was $45 plus a fill. I can upgrade the bottle size in the lease for nothing extra, but just pay for the bigger fill up.

It came with a spool of solid wire. .6mm which I think is .023in. it's a small spool.

mine stayed in the box longer than that before i finally set it up.

unless you are welding all the time the bigger bottle is not necessary.
2 smaller bottles is the way to go, when one empties you trade it with the spare and next trip to town get the other refilled.

have to take a truck to get the bottles they will not let them go in the van unless i put a rack on the back door.

but i do think buying the bigger roll of wire is worth the $.

i use the .023 wire with gas on the tin and .035 flux core on the frame or other thicker stuff i weld.

That's a good idea. Size wasn't my point but having the volume on hand was.

You are right Max I did a double take and put off the purchase" $66.00" for a while but I'm now glad I did it. For what I do the wire is working out better than I expected. It seem that I'm using lower settings with it but haven't used it long enough to really have a good feel for it. I'm using it in my Lincoln 100 it's .023 wire. When I need to weld heavy stuff I switch to the 220 volt wire welder with .035 wire and go for it.

I've got them mounted on one cart so I have them in the same place. I'll post a picture later.
