Small block distributor?

Post by *1bad66* »

I am going to pull the 351w out of the 66 and check out the bottom end real good and possibly take the time and save up some extra money and stroke it but not realy sure yet. My question is will the MSD distributor in my 351 work in a later model 5.0 out of a lincoln. I was thinking about just getting a intake and use the carb and distributor off the 351 and putting the 5.0 motor in it for now. Thanks for any responses.

The short answer is no.
a 302(5.0) has a shorter deck height than (the block is taller on) a 351 so the 351 dist. will be too long.
It's a race.. Will hell freeze over or will JC finish his truck first. Stay tuned..

Thanks that is what I was thinking. I knew the deck height was shorter on the 302 than the 351 but I had someone tell me they thought the distributors would interchange. Thanks I appreciate the help.
