Howdy guys,
I was wondering how hard would it be to put an EFI 302/AOD out of a 94 E150 in my 66? The main thing I'm worried about is the wiring any help or advice before i go through the work of pulling the motor and trans out of the van. Oh i guess i should say the truck its going in to is a 66 F100 240/3spd.

I'm attempting to put a 1986 EFI f150 engine in my 64. It's a huge tangled mess of wires right now but I'm sorting it out slowly. Here is an article on ford-trucks.com about installing an EFI mustang engine in an old ford truck. It's a different motor, and the wiring will be a little different in a van, but the concept is the same. It discusses what you need to make it work and it goes through mechanical connections, fuel system, and electrical connections. I hope this helps, and good luck with the swap.

The motor fits in the engine bay with plenty of room, but I'm having trouble getting the transmission cross member to sit on top of the frame's inner c-channel and still have clearance under the cab. I'm not sure why though. My truck is a 64 with a straight axle and I don't know if the transmission tunnels are the same as the 66 or not. I know the motor mounts are different and so are the cab mounts so I don't know what specific issues you will run into. I know certain year trucks with certain engine combinations didn't need to put an aftermarket cross member in to accommodate a 302 engine, but I don't remember specifically which ones.
I've got a build thread on my truck with some pictures, but there probably isn't going to be a whole lot of information in there to help with your 66

here is my tangled wiring mess:

right now the engine is bolted to its cross member, but the transmission is just resting on top of its cross member. you can see the cross members in this picture, it was taken before I had the cab on the frame:

The fordification web site has a lot of good information on it, here is a page about engine perches:

Other than that, I'd suggest using the search engine on this (slick 60's) site, there is probably already a post about what perches or cross members you might need for your particular swap. It's been an invaluable tool for me.

My thoughts on the wiring (EFI) you can sort out that tangled wire mess or you could just spend a little $ and get a new harness. I have one of these harnesses for my 64 and it worked out great I only had to hook up 4 wires... For sure it was easier than the crew cab as I sorted out my tangled mess of wires.
Things to look out for.
1. The harness is for a MASS air setup with a TFI on the Dizzy.
2. Pin outs vary some on FI computers check your computer for Pin outs. Fordfuelinjection.com has the pin outs for most computers. Worst case you can move the pins just have to get a small enough pin remover tool. See that site as it has pictures.

Have fun with it... I am almost done with my 2nd EFI slick conversion..
I also recommend if you want to do any tuning go with the Quarter horse and BE/BA software. It is the best option out there and with BE/BA there is forum support which is really nice.
