Gen 4 body swap Q

Post by Dirky »

Are body mount locations different between a 65-66 half ton and a 73-79 3/4 ton chassis?

I think a 65-66 body would be fun on a 3/4 4x4 chassis.

as far as i know, 65 to 79 up to the back of the cabs are all the same. in 73 the frame width got 2" wider from aft of the cab to the back.

The frames on the dentsides are wider after the cab, and the wheelbase on the long box trucks are longer by about 5".

cab mounts are reported to be the same.

When I built my 4x4, it is a 66 on a 78 frame and running gear. I found the cab, and core support mounts to line up exactly. The only exception was the rear cab mounts were to high. I had to use spacers to make the cab sit level. Then I had to make mounts for the bed, because the frame is wider behind the cab.

On a shortbox truck like that the wheelbase is even correct.
