The place to talk Slicks. All we ask is that discussion has something to do with slicks...

I got mine from Bobs F100 but they got the kit from GH Glass and Metal 714-997-9785 so deal with them directly. I got the glass and fuzies for the doors. Get the power window kit from Speciality Power windows Forsyth Ga the kit cost 299 and is worth every penny it also is backed up with a life time warranty and good people. Hope this helps let me know if you have any questions.

How much of the hinge pocket had to come out and did it compromise the structure of the door?

Thanks randyr. Those are helpful. It's going to be later this winter before we get to that stage. I will be documenting this one here on the forum.

This is a project that I've been discussing with its owner for a couple of months. It's a 1961 long box UNI. He is wanting to build it along the lines of pro street. With some custom touches, no trim or door handles, all seams filled, drip rails removed, forward door corners radiused, one piece door glass, possible suicide the doors. Those are the main goals.

As soon as we finalize the project I'll let every one know.

Sounds like a cool project, Mike. Keep us posted. I like all the ideas except the suicide doors. I've never seen them done in a way that looks right on these trucks but maybe yours will be the first. :)

Suicide doors have never been a favorite of mine on anything unless it was done at the factory. That being said doing it and the one piece glass is going to be an adventure.

I have an extra pair of doors to experiment with so we will see how it goes. If the one piece glass goes well and doesn't compromise the door structure I will strongly try to talk him out of the suicide treatment.

I was thinking about doing it once..before anyone had..that I know of.

i think the best thing you can do is to get a really junk door, cut the skin off of it, and look in from the outside to see what has to be done. I actually have one door for my uni all trimmed inside to get the clearance.. It was a mutha to do basically blind, with your arm in there and a power tool. I really think cutting open a junk door is the way to see the issue. And quite frankly I think the smartest way for a good welder would be to remove the skin.. make it work, reskin.

I've been thinkin the same thing foodstick, re-skinning a door isn't a big deal so that just might be the way I do it. We are starting with the doors so as soon as the owner orders the glass kit and the electric window mechanism we will get started. I plan on doing a step by step tech write up I want to do it as much for my own records as for all of us. I think its going to be challenging and fun. I know I'm going to learn a bunch.
