Exactly, the fees have gotten waaaay out of control. Plus the staff isn't car people, they're money people, uptight and snooty to boot.

There are more people every year and there's a lot of fun to be had.
I guess it's hard to explain really if you're there......

Cruisin' the Coast

Gerald,
We just got a comp'ed offer from one of the casinos ending the weekend of Oct 1st. Is there enough activities of interest the first weekend to be worthwhile, or should I try for the weekend of the 7th? That time is probably going to be hard to talk them into this late. I looked at the website and it really doesn't show much for the first weekend.
Thanks for any suggestions or opinions.

I think I would try for the 2nd weekend if possible. I think it officially starts on Sunday the 2nd (registration, etc) but it seemed like most of the activity started on Wednesday, so we elected to do Wednesday through Sunday. I do have a couple of friends who go every year and spend the entire week (Sunday to Sunday) there.
When we made out reservations back in July, the BIG casinos were the only hotels that still had rooms available (at a price of course). Being able to switch will probably depend on how much money they expect you to loose :-). Let me know what you work out.

Grits,
I should be off the same days that you are there. I have sea trails on the week before so we'll see.

Looks as if we'll also be there Tuesday through Sunday. We still have the trip there for the first weekend, so now the decision is whether we take advantage of it also.
That's an opportunity to blow lots of money on a "free" trip .
Since there doesn't seem to be much happening Sunday and Monday, we will probably cancel the first offer.
Anyway, I will p.m. cell numbers and lodging info before heading out.

Cool! Yeah, those FREE casino visits can be quite spendy.
