Generator wires..

Post by jeffw »

I know this has been brought up before but does anyone know how to convert generator to alt.. I was told the a alt from a 90's escort would fit my 223. there are three wires on the back of the generator.
1. yellow, 2 black. these run to the regulator. now here is my question..
Where do these three wires go on the alt??

Jeff,
Most of us just use the chevy alt. I used one out of a 78 camero. Fab up a lower mount bracket and use the stock adjusting bracket and belt. Wiring is very simple.

Jeff,
Yes, the voltmeter and the idiot light both work.
