Paint removal discs

IN one of the posts someone posted the discs for a grinder to remove paint. I have not been able to find the post by searching, and would hope someone can flead me to it. The discs were listed at 3.50$ each and I would like to order some. This price beats harbour freight by a 1.50$ or so. Please let me know what or where this was posted. Searching the site has not done me any good, as I can't remmember what this info was posted under, nor what the heading of the post was.

Rich, I think you are talking about the 3M discs for a 4 1/2 inch angle grinder. I looked for awhile for these locally and found they are now obsolete. I did find an ebay seller that has many of them. Try an ebay search of 3M 03075 for the discs and 3M 03073 for the adapter you also need. Both very reasonably priced, in fact lower than when I bought them here at Menards. The seller is cripesdistributing I believe. I bought a bunch of them from that seller recently and will probably get a bunch more. The discs work very well at removing paint down to bare metal and are very easy to use.

Here's some photos of the obsolete 3M discs. I used one today to strip the paint off a small portion of a fender. Too bad 3M no longer makes them, they really work well. Pat

go to a auto paint Jobber and ask for a 3M Roloc clean and strip disc. It will be purple in color. The great thing about the roloc attachement is you can use it on edge or flat. Does a great job of getting rid of paint as does grade 80 da paper on a DA

The sanblaster discs look a lot like scotchbrite discs.....which I tried back in about 1980, and did not care for. They plugged up quickly, and generated too much heat in the panel....

Ken Sakamoto from Sunchaser tools sells some very good stripping discs.....a lil spendy, but they do work well. And I believe there are others selling similar discs, just takes some recon:)

Once mounted on a mandrel, they can be used on a drill, so the sander is nice, but not a must have:)

Just remember - much like sandpaper - expensive is sometimes better! The cheapies you get at swap meets and flea markets don't last as long as ones made by 3M and others. Sometimes you can find some pretty good cheapies but in the long run it's best to get good stuff, kind of like your tools.
