I am new to the slick world I just recentlly purchased a 1965 F250 camper special with a 352 and 4 speed transmission with a granny first gear and I have a couple of questions i need help with. First off i would like to switch my current transmission to something more responsive and quicker shifting capabilities. I am not going to be doing much towing with this truck and I would like to go more towards the performance side. What are my options as far as something bolting up to this 352 I would like to stick with a manual if possible. Also what else can I do on a limited budget to get this thing to perform better. And last but not least I am looking to get some nicer rims with some better rubber on them I believe it has the stock 8 lug rims with some solid rubber looking tires on them that don't seem very safe how do I figure out the bolt spacing and size so I can replace them with something a little nicer. Thanks for any help.

yep. i bought used "accuride" steel wheels from the local u pull it for 17$ each. you see the aluminum alcoas on craigslist once in a while reasonable. just make sure they are pre 97 like tom said.

Lots of mid-'70's Ford pickups had the Orion 4-over toploader derived transmission, and they were bolted to FE engines so all the factory stuff will work for you. Find a derelict 3/4 ton and you have wheels too!
Just be sure to avoid the aluminum case, internal shift linkage look-alike transmissions, they are crap. I believe Ford called them SROD, single rail over drive.

I used a T-5 for my 300. I had to collect a lot of info.
Not sure how much will carry over to the FE, but it will give you some points to ponder.
