IT'S ALIVE!!!

Post by qwertyd10n »

Hey everyone,

I FINALLY got everything buttoned up enough to start the new engine in my truck this afternoon... YIPPEE!!!

It's running straight off the headers, so it is pretty noisy... but it fired right up after I primed the carb. I must have got all the wiring for the 3G alternator wiring correct, because it was charging as it should... oil pressure was above 75psi when cold and then came down to just below 50psi when it got hot. No leaks that I could see anywhere and I let it run long enough to bring the temp up to 180-190. I think it has a little bit of rumpity-rump sound... but it's really hard to hear properly with the open headers.

Here are some pics of the finished engine... I'll try and get a video tomorrow:

Very nice craftmanship! You did break in the camshaft 2000 rpm for oh say 20 minets or so?

The new engine was run in on a dyno... so I didn't have to worry about being too cautious with it when I fired it up this afternoon. Considering everything else I changed and wasn't entirely sure would all work, I'm glad I didn't have that to think about as well.

Beautiful installation! I especially like the black alternator case. Unusual and very sanitary installation.

Where did you get the radiator shroud? Aftermarket or off what year/model truck or car?

Thanks.

Me too, the silver valve covers look sweet with all the aluminum in there. Is this the 445? TR

The valve covers are actually aluminum as well.
