I search pretty hard online trying to find an original core support for my 66 4X4 , I found a 66 2wd core support on Craigslist for $150 and the guy shipped it Greyhound Xpress. He shipped it from PA to Mi and it took one week exactly , all packaging was is great shape and only $68 to ship it. I feel like I hit the lottery only paying $150 ...lol Just shows that they're still out there in rust free condition

nice find/price but... that core support is 66,maybe 65 2wd support and not 4x4 which you stated which uses the 61-64 rounded inner fender style, and has larger wheel openings if it is a stock 4x4 and not a transplant/frame swap. Am I not right, Ice?

right except he has a 66 f100 4x4 so its the right one for that 4x4 only.

i really cant get much out of such a small pic but there is differences between the 65 and 66 2wd supports
battery tray mounting and radiator mounting to name 2
the more trucks i take apart the more differences i see. some are so slight they are hard to spot unless you pay very close attention to detail. i would not say even after all i have seen that i am perfectly qualified to judge a specific year or concours restoration but i can spot a lot of things others have not seen.

There is something strange there. I don't see the rdiator suppor holes. Good snag though. I usually can't find one for that price and I have to take it off when I do.

THE EXTENSION Brackets are missing looks like they where cut off,, also if it was a 2 wheel drive 66 support still would be wrong since missing the 3 cage nuts that actually designates its a true 66 support for 2 wheel drives,, I wonder is the 4x4 truck on 66 F-100 took a different battery tray ?? or which one it used I am just lazy right now to look up part number since working so hard doing nothing

I'll post some better pictures this coming weekend of the core support , the guy said it came off a 66 2wd , I did see the fenders also and they had 66 badges ....but who knows ? I'll let you guys help me figure it out
Start off it looks like a nice piece,, BUT HE LIED Not a 66 2 wheel drive,, I personally don't need part numbers unlike others I have seen over FTE need part numbers,, ALL 66 2 wheel drives will have no radiator extensions BUT will have the 3 caged nuts that are 100% visible behind grill no exceptions on 66,, 65 2 wheel drive is suppose to be as well as for 66 4x4 as well and thats not it since the rad extensions have been cutoff,, I would use the 65 Battery Tray and the 66-79 radiator that will mount flush to support and go with that, only one other note Ford used on the 4x4 trucks that rad extension to bring the rad closer to motor, that why on 67-72 trucks some think extra cooling on 2 wheel was more coolant capacity, NOT that brought rad closer to motor as well all the 4x4 trucks did that as well the f-350's in 67-72 trucks so theres wher the extra cooling came about

I took more photos , the red tape is where the brackets were cut off , he was not the original owner , it belonged to a friend of his who put a fiberglass clip on the truck. Hopefully these photobucket pictures are much bigger and with better detail. So what year truck do you think this came from ? Picture # 5 has two holes on the bottom ( right side of the picture ) of the support where the radiator may attach at the bottom ? But I see what you mean about no holes on the sides to attach the radiator.
