Questions about bending/drop beams (again)

Post by Kellxr7 »

I know this has been covered again and again & I have spent the past couple days going over a ton of threads on this topic (including ones from the 'other' sites but alot of the threads (and alot of opinions!)I have seen are a few years old & alot can change & be discovered in a few years.
So here is my scenario, my slick is a low buck summertime daily cruiser, nothing special, but I would like to lower it a little. I have read alot of bad reviews on DJM dream beams, but then also came across a few good ones as well! Same with AIM, (but alot better reviews.) After reading about all the drop beams, (and of course the IFS swaps which would be nice but definitely not an option for me for the next long while) I have also run across a few threads from a few guys that have lowered to a max of 3" by cutting coils and bending beams, I just want to check if even 2" is doable/safe, acceptable, realistic? I dont want it in the weeds by any means, but I am just curious what the average is for cutting coils/bending beams. Or if I should just go with some dropped beams.

Dream beams are junk, I've had two sets...both were crap.

I pulled dream beams off a truck of mine and put cut coils on it. The tires wore a lot better.

If you have a place to bent them, I snuggest going that route....
So good lookin' that I've attracted an international stalker.

Rest in Peace Bumpstick....I miss ya man.

Ive read that alot about the dream beams being junk & the AIM beams being slightly better but still enough complaints about kingpin bushing fitment issues to make me not want to spend 500+ :?

I start with cutting one coil circle off and ck for the height you want front end at.

By cutting coils (and bending beams) am I on track expecting about 2" to 2.5" being the max I'd want to push before I start asking for trouble?

I used that shop on my way down to visit family. I cut 1.5 coils out and they got everything lined back up. They did very good work and my truck drove sooooo much better its not even funny. Then I dropped down in tire size and it did the trick untill I clip mine.

Defintaly the way to go if you want about 2-3 inches lower, and then you can get another 2 inches or so depending on ur tire size.
