my first project and reason I joined the forum ('66 f100)

I figured I'd post why I joined the slick 60's forum.

This is my first project truck and I am completely new to this, infact a year and a half ago I would've laughed at the thought of working on a truck or car.

Anyways,
This is a '66 f100
352 FE engine
has an autolite 2100 carb in it I had to rebuild, was in bad shape
three on a tree (I got told this is how the cool kids say it)
really straight body and only rust I have found is under the bed liner (previous owner put a plastic liner in it... ugh, which means I will most likely need a new bed floor) and driver side floor board
The previous owner sanded the truck down and primed it, but just a thin coat, so there is some surface rust
The previous owner took alot of randomn things apart I am putting back together so I haven't started it up yet
I do know it will turn over and isn't seized (i hear thats a good thing lol)

For now my only goal is to get it running and then see what I will need to do to get it running well. Then I will figure out how I want to have it look etc

I am pretty good wiht a wrench, I just don't understand all the lingo yet, feel free to ask any questions, just umm, well I may not understand what you are asking for (part of the reason I joined the forum)

BTW: If you want to meet several Slick 60's members face-to-face we have a meet-up at the Pate Swap Meet in late April. Members from Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas and Oklahoma (plus others) have about 20 spaces reserved where we hang out and swap "truck lies" and rest between walking trips to check out the goodies. A good time! I'll post the details on where we are located later.

thats going to be a nice project. good start too. those white face gauges haven't been out for too long so it was probably running within the last couple of years.

Hello from Okla )( homa. Grits is right, you should come see us at Pate this year. Our spaces are on row 11 and 12 going north from Petty Place which is the main entrance from the spectator parking lot. Watch for signs out on both sides that say Slick 60s and several Slicks parked together. There will also be several of the E Z UP shades lashed together. Bring a lawn chair along with you and come hang out with us.
We call it our "Mini Slick Stock South". TR

In that case, I have a "double Garage"; got a hole in the roof slightly larger than the Double DIN dash

Well the first week working on this is over.

I spend alot of it cleaning up the truck and finding how much work will need to be done.

The engine seems good. It started up and sounded pretty good, the dip stick tube broke though I had to stop the engine as oil was getting everywhere, part is ordered no biggie.

I tried to throw away the plastic bed liner, but as expected, everything underneath is rusted pretty bad. I will need to replace the bed, that can wait a while though, need to think about if I'll go and just do a basic replacement or install a wooden bed instead.

The cab is really clean. I removed the seat the only real problem is driver side floor board, I will replace it with new panels soon. The passenger side was covered in rust to, I grinded it out though and its actually in good shape.



I also got to take a look at the bench. I can't really figure out if i need to replace it or if a new cover will do it. Though honestly I am thinking of getting a bit of later year bench, just because i am not really short and I have some issues fitting into the truck with the current seat.

from Haslet TX. Pate is a great time to meet a lot of people that is for sure. Having the ezups helps keep the sun burn down. Plus pleanty of drinks and food at our area. You being in Ft worth I'm sure you fairly close to me as I'm on the north side of Ft worth. Give me a hollar if you want to come up. I do have a parts truck out back, sorry no bed's.
