My only question is... Why not a F-1 or at least a Fat Fender (in keeping with their chosen era)??? BTW how's that Uni coming along?

There would be some sweet justice in that,if they hadn't picked such a dime-a-dozen (and butt-ugly) truck to do it in. The only truck more common around here are these belly buttons http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/cb/t.asp?page=0

Slow. I have all the stuff for a drum repair and its about an addl $100 after I return the parts for the disk deal. I owe $800 in property taxes and I don't have it.

I am tempted just to do the drum deal just so I can move it around. Ive been moving it sans brakes. I just chuck a brick in front of the wheels.
Not a great situation.

My Fairlane just cost me about 2K in order to get it ready for the Fairlane Club nationals and now it randomly stalls and strands me.
I am sorta taking a break before I flip out and sell all my cars.

The engine seems to run really well. I'm pretty suprised at that.
I just scored a complete 87 5.0/AOD for $50.
Not sure ill need it but if I do Ill swap it in

ill probably catch flak but ohwell. i personally like both of those trucks (along with several others) but im not really brand biased what i really believe in is keeping a vehicle brand specific. if the parts wern't ment for the same company then don't put them on it.which is the only reason i don't like the "358".

Jeramy. None of the rest of that truck is GM either. GM approved some of the moulds I think, but not much of it is stock parts, like one of those Stovebolts came with, cause they all rattle, clang and rust too bad.

Is a 358 a 5.8 triton?

Speaking of which, have you guys seen the Mustang with an LS1 (I think) running gear that Popular Hotrodding just finished up? I haven't read enough of the article to find out why they would even start such an endeavor, I'm not really interested enough to find out.
I agree with Jeramy. I'm not really brand biased either (as long as it ain't rice), I have my favorites from each of them. I currently one one Chebby, 3 Dodges & 6 Fords...not all of them in driving condition, of course.

The drivetrain swap thing between makers is just dumb & in my opinion, only serves to devalue the vehicle & the effort of making something cool.

Just glancing out my office window today, and with the big Hotrod weekend coming up here weekend after next, I must have seen 20 of those belly-button 67-72 GM trucks today, and I wasn't really looking for them.

Why in the heck would anyone waste the time/money to restore one of those, to be one of 50 or more at any show -n-shine? :hm:

I don't get it.

Jeramy. I dunno about anyone else, but I definitely go out of my way NOT to have what everybody else has. There are a few slicks running around town here, I see a guy even has a '64 Merc on the road this year, like mine.

But to go to a local show-n shine in my one-horse town and see forty 67-72 Chevs , 5-10 more than the Slick 60's get Fords out to their INTERNATIONAL meet.. (Slickstock).. means I am still in a fairly exclusive club. No belly buttons around here.

I have gone even further than that with my latest vehicle, the Bricklin. DEFINITELY the ONLY one in town. Gets more attention than Pam Anderson on a trampoline.

Unique is what I prefer to be. Who needs a Belly button Chev. Everyone's got one of them.
