Nadine's new shoes

Post by Uncle Skip »

I can't stand it anymore. I was going to wait, but I can't.
I have got to get the new tires mounted on the red steel reversed rims.
I'm going with Cooper Cobra's and I need your opinions.
Raised white letters inside, or out.
Back in my day, we actually painted the letters with model airplane paint to get the "look" so I'm leaning to "outside".
What do you think?
Thanks for humoring me. :shock:
I'm not arguing with you. I'm just explaining why I'm right.
Pardon me. Does your deaug bite?

It all depends on how commited you are to nostalgia.
I am going with white letters, maybe chrome reverse rims, and a slight rake :D :D :D
Of course with four unibodies I can pick one of each so to speak

I like white walls myself.

I vote for the white letters as long as no one is going to drive Nadine and scuff them up.

I'm a traditionalist. My vote would be for black out. I even painted the white letters on one tire and the whitewalls on another three with Miller's Black Tire Paint and turned them inside.

X2 While working for a major oil companie's short-lived auto parts and service operation, I was offered an excellent value on a set of then-new to market outline white letter performance tires for my hot rod truck. The tire company district manager, who was evidently behind the offer, was incensed when he spotted them mounted blackwall out. I have always been a proponent of the stealth mode, no emblems or labels, (well, except for the 352 emblems on several of my long-ago vehicles).
I seldom needed tire black; open beaches and a good Detroit Locker took care of the shine, two tires at a time.
There's an idea, Skip, put 'em white out, when you get tired of the razzing, just head to the beach and "develop" a set of wide whitewalls :lol:

If it were me it would be;
Black walls or White walls - NO letters here.
One thing I saw on truck in CCT I thought was cool,
the side walls were buffed to make them smooth.
Looked really cool.

Uncle Skip.
Didjya ask Nadine what she wants yet?
My Sweet Southern Comfort told me right up what color she wanted, and so she is getting it. Well, most of it anyway for now. The rest will have to wait, but she understands, and that is another story for later.
I would rather think, and this is without talking to either one of them gals, that since Nadine came of age right smack in the middle of the Golden Age of what she has under the hood, perhaps she will prefer the same on her purty new shoes.

Banjo, you're right. I just wanted some other opinions and I got em.
Gonna be white letters inside. I just can't detract from those wheels and baby moons.
JC you hoser. I can't take pictures of something I don't have yet. Am I missing something or can they do that in Canada? :shock:

Skip: I realize this wasn't one of the options you presented, but have you considered a set of the "Red Line" tires. Don't think they came on trucks, but they would be "period correct" and would set off the red wheels (maybe with smooth trim rings?) Just an idea!

Gerald, I looked at them at Pate in the Coker Tent this year. But at $250 each they were just a little rich for my blood. I also looked at the Goodyear 295/70R15 for $395 each.
Besides, Red Lines were for GTO's, not F-100 pickups. 8)

They are quite pricey aren't they?

Oh I certainly realize that, but it was just a thought. Never really liked them that much, but thought with the red wheels and the white paint...

He's got a point;
with the white paint & red wheels they would have a completely different look than on a 60s muscle car.

The cooper cobras have very nice lettering and would really compliment the red wheels. I have the letters out on mine and I think they look great.
