New interior in Shep

Post by OldDawg »

Here's my interior before:Image
There was some rust I needed to treat.
Image
Both the drivers and passenger side.
Image
I cleaned then treated the metal with POR-15.
Image
I just treated the areas that had rust. I knew I was going to cover it all with FatMat.
Image
I epoxied the door box where it was broken and cleaned it up overall.
Image
I laid out the FatMat best I could. Stuff is VERY sticky.
Image
Laid out the carpet.
Image
Image
Tucked it up under the firewall cardboard. Had to trim a bit to do this.
Image
I put some FatMat in the doors.
Image
I painted the sills with some Duplicolor Wimbledon White, turned out pretty good.

Nice! Was that an original floormat you pulled out? Never seen one like that before. Looked kind of cool!

Yeah, it was just rubber floor mat, original, I'm assuming. It was pretty cool, but in rough shape. I threw it out.
It only went up to the edge of the seat, not all the way under. The carpet goes all the way to the tank. It's much quieter in the truck now, love it.

Looks great! I've heard those mats make things a LOT quieter- I think I'm going to use them...

Great Job! That carpet fits perfectly, mind telling us where where it came from?

Thanks guys, it was a fun 2 day weekend doing this upgrade. Very satisfying, I highly recommend it. The insulation is FatMat (ordered from Amazon) and the carpet I got from AAC. There was a thread on it here and I took their advice and went with them. Very happy, great quality.

Very nice!

BTW: I have the same stock red & black rubber floor mat under my carpet. I think it was original for custom cabs with red interiors. I like it. I wish it was being reproduced.
