Well I didn't blast the door regulators, but WOW I forgot how nice things can look if you do.. Check out this old hood locking mechanism after a quick clean and paint.. just like new !

Saw a really good one at Pate swap meet a year ago that was made from a 55 gal. drum. Everything was built to last instead of these cheapies you get at Harbor Freight that leak air/sand everywhere. Big Red something.... can't remember the name but they were great. It was a company selling them, not an individual.

Looks pretty nice and a decent price. Has good reviews and is made in the U.S. about 60 miles NW of Austin.
I have one of the little table top units from Tractor Supply and it does a decent job, but is simply too small. You can get a wheel inside, but you can't turn it around or move it much.
I would recommend that anyone get the largest cabinet they can afford. I would also highly recommend the foot pedal over the hand trigger.
I looked at the Harbor Freight blaster a couple of weeks ago, and was pleasantly surprised at how large it was for the price on sale of $219 http://www.harborfreight.com/garage-sho ... 93608.html
For someone who wants a invest in a high quality unit, I would strongly suggest taking a look at the TP Industries line of cabinets. http://www.tptools.com/dg/53_Abrasive-B ... inets.html
They are professional quality, used in may professional shops and are also U.S. Made.

That's it Gerald - Barrel Blaster! Not sure where in the hell I got big red from but oh well. Anyway, I really liked those and he wasn't there this year. I looked at them upclose and they were built well.

What do you use to degrease before blasting?

I used to use the dishwasher, but I was informed that was no longer an option.

I use oven cleaner to degrease before blasting.The cheapo brand works well so it doesnt kill your wallet compared to name brand products.Another tidbit,if the parts are going to sit a while before painting I would suggest something like Eastwoods Afterblast.I used it after I blasted my frame and after sitting for almost a year while I did rust repair on my truck there is no surface rust at all.I have to mention that it was sitting in my shop but I have some parts that I did not treat and they have rust on them again.

My plan was to buy a new dishwasher and park the old one on the backporch. That would giv me one to use as a parts washer, but the old timer gave up before I could execute my plan.

My Wife went away for a day or two while I was re doing the engine in my 64 Plymouth. The dishwasher did a real good job on the fan, pulleys, and air cleaner!
