FabQuest Power Brake Unit?

Has anyone here ever used this kit from Fab Quest? http://www.fabquest.com/brake-conversio ... mount.html
I am trying to decide if I will get a stock setup from the auto parts store and then find a OEM bracket or an entire aftermarket unit such as this one. I know either way I go will require some kind of drilling, cutting, etc but if the aftermarket unit is chinese junk then I would rather stay away. The thing I like about the aftermarket kit is the booster is a dual 8" unit and uses a GM m/c which are just a typical Corvette type (cheap and easy to find).

Suggestions/Info is greatly appreciated! I also know people here said Flashback F100 site is good too...

I used 1976 front disc brakes on my '66, so I used this setup from Advance auto:

I also used a new brake line kit for a '76 from Inline Tube.
For the firewall bracket and pushrod, I harvested it from a '78 F-150. This one uses a flat bar instead of a rod, which meant I only need to drill 1 hole in the flat part to get it to work right.
This makes it easy to remember what I did, and to obtain replacement parts.
If you have a '64 or earlier truck, though, you will have more work than I did so the corvette setup might be easier.

Thanks for the info. I own a 66 F100, sorry I should have mentioned that. Banjopicker, any idea where I can find the rod and bracket that you mentioned? I looked online at the local pull a part and no luck. If I can find one online or from a parts store that will save me time and gas money. Now that I own a shop and have to be there just about every day and work, it's hard for me to take time off and drive around chasing parts (unfortunately).

Forgot to add that I too have a 76 F series front end on my truck (disc brakes, twin I beams, etc).

Shawn, I bought a '76 parts truck to harvest all the parts off of first.
Later, I bought another rust bucket to part out, a '78, and kept only the firewall bracket.
I didn't do the brake swap until I had everything, so that helped.
Unfortunately, E-bay or prowling boneyards is about the only way I know to get one.

If the rod I use is older style round rod instead of flat, is this the one that I would need to cut and shorten or buy a new end? Sorry for all of the questions here. I have read MANY threads on this but seems that every year requires a different setup, etc.

Shawn, I do not know the precise answer to that, but I believe that any rod used '67 - '79 will need to be shortened, as the '65/'66 cabs have less space between the firewall and the brake pedal than the later years.
I think you have hit it correctly though, that it depends on what year you have, and what year the donor is, and whether it is a power setup or not.
'61 - '64 use the same cab.
'65 and '66 have the same firewall-to-pedal dimensions.
'67-'72 use the same dimensions within those years.
'73 - '79 are the same.
Note this is for 2WD only, and for F100, F150 and F250 models. All bets are off for anything higher.
I think '61 - '65 is the same for 4WD, but I may not have the exact dates correct, as I am taking the cab firewall-to-pedal dimensions into consideration.

Shawn, I put a 66 2x4 body on a 77f150 4x4 chassis. Like Banjo i used the booster master cylinder and the fire wall bracketsfrom the 77 f150. The pushrod is to long and my brake pedal pad about 2" higher than the clutch pedal pad. Mine has the round push rod. I havent shortened the pushrod yet. Shortening the push rod a little will lower the pad end alot. So be careful. Here is a link of one way to shorten the round push rod. Look down about half way the page. Its for manual disk brakes but same applies.

I like this unit, adjustable pushrod, and it has the firewall brackets.

I have not bought it yet, but I think it is the way Im going.
