Spare Mount setup

Post by sully5 »

Wanted the spare under the bed and wanted to to be easy to drop.

Started by going to Pull-a-Part in Nashville. Found a spare tire "reel" in an S-10 that had the bed removed. Then I built a crossmember for it.

After removing original spare mounting bar, I anstalled this one in between the rails.

Drilled below the tailgate with a 5/8" lining up the hole with the reel.

Made a shaft that will use my lug wrench to turn it.

And . . . . it's mounted.

That is slick. I thought about doing that a long time ago. Never did and now there is a fuel tank in the way.
