I'm back baby!!!

Post by Nick64Slick »

....not that you guys know who I am, I wasn't the most involved when I was here before, but I've missed you guys, and my slick!

Here's the story (abridged version)

Leading up to me being laid off at the end of 2010 I didn't have much time or money, so work stopped on the truck around the beginning of that year. Losing the job just solidified the fact that it would be sitting for a while despite the fact that it is 95% there and I have 95% of the rest of the parts to complete it. We also had to go down to being a single car family which really made things tough. I wound up coming into a little cash when I sold my Dad's 60' Fridge for him, and rather than roll the dice and finish my truck I decided to just buy a 98' Jeep so I'd have a runner for job hunting, etc. I wound up turning it into a bit of a project as well and my poor truck sat idle.

Long story short, I am working from home now and doing ok, but still have to make some tough choices. I don't really need a car at the moment to get around, so I have a buyer for the Jeep which will help me finish my truck and put some money in the bank as well. I'm finally making my slick into the DD it was destined to be! Getting parts in order in the garage at the moment and game planning. I'm excited, can't wait to finally get her on the road!!!

Thanks for letting me share guys, and I'll will be seeing you all around! You're stuck with me!!! :D

Welcome back. I think lots of Slicksters are going through similar things during these tough economic times. Glad things are looking up for you.

thanks! yupp, unfortunately many are probably in the same boat... I don't mind putting a little weight on the slick to help bail me out though... and I have faith in the old girl!

Just waiting to get the dough from the Jeep sale to buy a couple last minute things, but all that's really left to do is install the interior, side glass, hook up the steering pump, misc. wiring, and a half dozen other odds and ends so it's really close. It's already moved under it's own power once, but that was only into the garage, and only on a full carburetor bowl... and with my cousin quickly pulling off the charger cables once it started.

the guy is supposed to pay for and pick up the Jeep tomorrow..... work on the slick and parts ordering will commence shortly there after I'm sure. Work (day job) has let up a little, so it's game on! and I may need a runner sooner than later, so there's definitely a fire under the old arse.... maybe that's what I needed. can't wait
