Sounds, toones, you know... music.

I want to put some sounds in my slick. My 64 has no radio. Someone cut the dash face out fora modern head unit. But i have no stock speaker location. The dash has no cut outs for a mono speaker. I dont thik it ever had one. So I thought I might ask... What have other peaple done for speakers in there slick. I was thinking of using book shelf speakers. Or something from a home entertainment system. I cant mount anything behind the seat. Due to the fuel tank taking up all the room back there. I'm not complaining, I like the fuel tank where it is. But i need to come up with spears real soon. Please... Share what you have done. Pics would be great.

I made some pods for 6.5" speakers that mount on the kick panels ill get a picture today very easy and kinda neat looking too. I used power bass components and mounted tweeters on the dash also, and pioneer makes some pretty awesome flat subwoofers that u can fit under the seat they take like 3" mounting depth

my truck has a radio box on the floor in the center. not great for riding three people in the cab, but it sounds killer. you could also put a sub under the seat and a couple of 5" or 6" round speakers in the corners of the kick panel or in the doors. those door panels are cheap enough that you could cut a couple out for speakers and save your originals if you wanted to go back stock.

I would think the dream scenario would be really nice small speakers set into the corners of the cab,right behind your head, but I would only want it if it was nearly flush and hidden. I am not sure a speaker exists that could fit there, and sound good...

Most folks put them in the door pockets. I used 6x9 speakers.
Unless you're using waterproof boat speakers, make a shroud or cover to protect them from water coming thru the window opening.

mine has 3x9s in the lower cab corners, 6x9s in the door, and a set of custom pods for the kicks, and a custom molded centre console for a sub - not quite done yet but will post pix soon

It seems SOMEONE at SS 5 had an area built to put them in a floor position pointing up towards you? They were sort of built into the floor between the kick panel and the actual floor, nicely done I might add, but no speakers were installed yet.

Lance I think you are thinking of Dragginwagons build . He has metal panels welded at an angle between the floor , kick panel and firewall .

I mounted a pair of 5" mids in the headliner, (the upper rear angled section where the interior light is mounted) I am very happy with it because your head is close to the speakers so the sound projecting downward toward is great without having to crank it up, they are also a little more out of sight to theives (I say this because most of my friends/passengers didnt realise the speakers were up there until they finally noticed after looking/riding in the truck many times & finally asked when I put speakers up there..which was a couple years prior & they were surprized they never noticed it before...) I also mounted the receiver in the glove box, so a crook walking by taking a glance only sees a factory AM radio.. and keeps walking.
