Talk to me about lowering options..

Post by slick63 »

I`m looking to lower my 63 about 4 inches all around. This is my first slick so I`m looking for advice as to which method is the best bang for the buck. The options I`m aware of are: 1) Removing leafs from the spring packs (looking at my rear packs I could probably get the necessary drop and still have plenty of springs left, the front would be cutting it pretty thin as far as remaining springs. 2) Mono leafs all around. 3) Drop shackles and hangers. 4) An axle flip kit.

Overall cost is going to be a big factor for me. Additionally, I don`t have any fabrications skills so things like c notching the frame is pretty much out of the question. The truck will be my weekend driver so ride quality is not high on the priority list, however, I`m not looking to ride on a rock.

Any advice/information/words of wisdom would be much appreciated!

I don't advise fipping the springs. When I got my 64 the previous owner had flipped the front springs to lower the front end and the frame sits right on the springs and it has no give

for the front look into Nostalgia Sids in OKC for his dropped axle.

Another option for the front , you can do the same for the rear, if you don want to flip the rear end . I fyou want to do both fron and rear call them and ask for a package , I got F/R springs and F/R shockes. new shackels and bush for about a grand. :2cents:

Good stuff...now will mono sprins require c notching? I've heard yes and no.

I have reverse eye mono's front and rear and did not have to c-notch . 8) If you are going to haul heavy loads then maybe?
