New slick here...

Post by greaseland »

I just want to take a second to introduce myself to the group. I have always had some sort of old vehicle as transportation till my daughter was born last year and my wife insisted (wisely) that we get something late model with air bags, abs, etc. Ever since I felt as though a pice of me was missing. Anyway I saw this sitting by the road side with a for sale sign and it was calling my name. It needs a clutch, has a few minor rust holes but over all it is in great shape. I hope to spruce it up a bit over time and the forum looks like a great source of information as well as entertainment. I posted some pics in an album under the name greaseland. I don't know how to insert a link to them into this message though.

Hey everyone, thanks for the warm welcome, and the compliments on the truck. I do feel fortunate to have found her in the shape she is in, as I am better with the mechanical end of things than body work. I do mean to change that though, and this baby looks like a good platform on which to build those skills.

Any thoughts on the paint? Was this an original paint scheme? All the two tone jobs I see have the roof the same color as the lower body, but I kinda like it the way it is because it looks just like the the toy truck I use for my avatar.

stellj thanks for the link on how to post with images. I'm giving it a try right now

I believe that the 2 tone on your truck is a factory style also. I am somewhat partial to the other 2 tone myself. One cool thing about the 2 tone on your truck is that it's less common. I have thought about doing the roof of my Uni in red to match the wheels just until I figure out what other color combination I want on it.

I like it the way it is too? Not sure what I am doing yet either as far as color scheme goes, but do it how you like it because you only need to make your self happy. Glad to help with the link anytime I can.

Welcome aboard, nice looking truck! :thumright:

Is that a winch mounted to the front bumper?

Yeah its a winch. This was a farm truck so it was probably dragging machinery out of fields. Its welded onto the bumper which kind of ruined it, but it might come in handy to drag the snow blower out the basement hatchway.
