Trailer Wiring ?

Post by Mr. D »

I was under ol blu, looking at the tow hitch my Dad has installed from Lambert hitch in Denver, Co. It is very nice still has a lot of the stickers on it.

Yet I am wondering how my Dad pulled a trailer with it, because I can't find anywhere in the wiring harness an adapter or something for how he plugged in the trailer lights. :hm:

what are my options? I should of asked him before he went to driving the slick 60 up in the blue sky.

thanks Kelly

U-haul used to sell a cool light bulb adapter. The bulb replaced your regular rear brake light bulb, but had 2 leads coming out from it. You replaced both regular bulbs with one of these, and connected the 2 leads of the light to the 4 leads on the trailer. Then you had to make sure the trailer was was grounded to the truck.

Betcha that is how he did it.

By the way, you had to replace the standard duty flasher relay with a heavy duty one. It was a direct replacement, but the standard duty wouldn't handle the extra wattage the trailer lights drew.

See if he has one in there, and it might validate my theory.

If you plant a yard, they'll tax the grass.
If you don't play nice, they'll fine your *$#!
