New from denver

Post by mona22 »

hey all slick 60s'

new guy from Denver and have been looking for a slick for about a year now and randomly stumbled upon one maybe..
I was riding a threw a random field by my house and spotted this slick in this persons back yard!!!

It needs some love and well I wanna rescue it from hell, I know this is the place with the know. So few questions...

1. What year is it, can you tell by the grill? I think its maybe a 64?
2. As you can see the front windshield is broken are these hard to come by or can any windshield place find one?
3. What motor came in the longbed custom cab?
4. Is this model special I see it has some compartment on the bed?

Thanks for all the help any of this info can maybe help in the haggle..
Hopefully its some old lady that just wants it gone.

Thanks and glad to not be just lurking anymore

welcome from Utah, im actually only a few miles from the UT-CO line and 50 mi from Cortez

!. yes all years have different grilles and if its not been changed you can tell which year
2. windshields are not difficult to find
3.depends on year. if its a 64 and original it will be a 223 or 262 6 cyl or 292 8 cyl.
4.im assuming your speaking of the bedside toolbox, not rare but not common either.

if you dont get that one there are some decent slicks i have seen in the Co/UT/NM craigslists

id say it's a 66 based on the fender emblem and front grill. 2wd on the full hubcaps, and a long wheel base. The amount of rust I see on the back edge of the fender makes me think the whole area behind that fender is rusted away (i could be wrong though). It looks all original as far as metal and trim and mirrors, but I see lots of rust. back edge of door and cab corner, tool box area, and on the front down around the bottom of the grill. I'd be cautious paying much more than $200-$300. Being in Denver you should be able to find a nice one from WY, or UT, ID area for 1000 or 1500 :2cents:

From denver also, have a 61 unibody.

That thing looks pretty crusty, unless it was super cheap i wouldnt be looking too hard. plenty of slicks around denver, even a lot of unibodies

It looks about like mine did at the start of December. Been daily driving mine now a few weeks. Lot of long days and a lot of money. Lost count on cost and time. I have done all the work myself except the windshield. That was 180$ installed with new gasket. So it can be done if you want to do the work. I wanted to save this one and it has been worth it to me.

Welcome to the forum. Unless you are looking for a major project, I would move on. That looks like it is going to be a ton of rust repair is not fun lol.
