Hey just saying hello. Love the site. I have a 61 f100 flareside shorty. I bought it after looking for a slick for a year that I could afford. The truck had been sitting for who knows how long. I went through fuel system, pump lines filter, rebuilt carb, went through brakes and got it back on the road for about 5 min then ripped it apart and through one of Sids drop beams on and flipped the rear hangers. I got lots more on the list but that's as far as I've gotten. Here's how it looks right now. If anyone wants to give their opinion on the body please do, I'm going back and forth on painting it or running it a little rat rod.

Jesse welcome from Louisville,Ky. Personally I think after dropping the money into her for a Sids Axle she needs a little love on that body . Even if you ended going suede on her cleaning her up and a wheel and tire change will make her look like a completewly differant truck .
Thanks for the comments. I'm located in Palm Springs area. My wife's really pushing me to paint it. (I work at a hot rod shop so she says she doesn't get why I don't paint it)
Also about the stance and wheels. I'm thinking about cut and extending the shackles 2 more inches and the rims are leaving soon. I'm putting smoothies on it, but the front tire is the biggest I could fit, lots of test fitting. I didn't put before that its just the little 223 with a auto. All original stuff.

BTW: You DO realize that the hood emblem is backward. Just sayin'.
If you understand what you’re doing, you’re not learning anything.

Yep their backwards just pop them off and switch them side for side a PO most likely took them off to prime it " which beats the usual overspray all over them " and put them back on the worng sides when they put them back on . Granted you do still have them I have a 62 and a 63 and mine are missing off of both trucks .
I have a 292 that's pretty fresh was thinking about puttin in Just not sure if its worth the effort. Also not a huge fan of the auto in the truck but for it age I guess I should be happy it still works.

Welcome from Northern California.
The 292 Y block has a special sweet sound to it, a T5 swap would make keeping up with traffic a little better. You just need to find a three speed truck bell housing, mod it or have it modded by someone like mummert in San Diego. I have done mine but have not got it running yet.

There are things you can do to either engine that will let it get up and go, as well as lower rpm at speed.
The 223 will benefit from Clifford performance intake and exhaust and the t5 will help with gearing, do a search the swaps have been done here on both engines.
Yblocksforever will also help with the 292, fordsix performance will also help with the 223.

Quick question, their are quite a few shackles for 65 and newer f100's, is their a difference from the 61 rear suspension to 65? Also is their a way to adjust the steering box to get rid of play, worm gear mesh or something. Thanks for the help.
