64 Ranger ID
64 Ranger ID
The person most likely to know the answere would be Michelle. Since she seems to have forgotten us, Iwould like someone that has the answere to respond. I believe the body trim would be where it would be noted, but have been unable to come up with this information in my books.

Maybe this will help, this was the Vin tag on a 64 Ranger I found a few years ago

Re: 64 Ranger ID
Here is the address for Michelle's Ranger Registry:
www.michellesfords.com/RangerRegistry.html
On there, she lists the following for '65 and '66 Rangers:
The body code is the fourth set of numbers from the right on the second line of the warranty plate. It will have something like F81 or G81. The Alpha is the trim code and the 81 is the body code meaning your truck is a conventional cab of that era. We are concerned here with the alpha portion of the code.
Codes for 1965 are:
F=Red crinkle all vinyl
G=Black crinkle all vinyl
H=Palomino crinkle all vinyl
Codes of 1966 are:
T=Black crinkle vinyl and black rosette pattern vinyl
U=Parchment crinkle vinyl and rosette pattern vinyl
V=Red crinkle vinyl and rosette pattern vinyl.
Obviously, the trim code is going to be different for a '64, but the body code matches.

Re: 64 Ranger ID
Rangers came with mustang bucket seats and console. There was only 1000 made in 65 & 66 year model option. NO 64s from what i know. Tony

Re: 64 Ranger ID
Be interested in the source for your Ranger production figures? I've heard the figures 600 for each of the years, but pretty sure all the Ford info (other than production numbers by year, type cab/bed configuration) but no option package figures. And yes, there were Rangers in 64 it was ordered as the Sport Package I believe. Member Doug (64Ranger) in California has one. Check out Michelle's Ranger registry page (link posted earlier) for more definitive Ranger info.

Re: 64 Ranger ID
I remember reading somewhere that in '64 it was called the Sport Package. Did they have the mustang buckets though? The Mustang came out mid/late 64 sooo? Lol

Re: 64 Ranger ID
Think some of the early one's used Falcon Bucket Seats.

Re: 64 Ranger ID
That's good information, since the pictured truck appears to have Falcon/Fairlane seats with the later console. It would be interesting to determine if there was a specific start date for the Mustang-sourced seats and the later console. it may well be that it varied from plant to plant.
I originally thought the Falcon seats were in all '64's because of the earlier column configuration, but this does not seem to be accurate.
I once found one with an original-appearing set of higher-backed seats which the long-time owner insisted were original. I knew they had originally came from a mid-size Plymouth of the era, since I had bolted a set in my Futura convertible. They looked as if they belonged there, causing lots of comments on meet nights at the local drive-in.
Thanks for the info!

Re: 64 Ranger ID
Your welcome, there is a discussion on this truck here somewhere, I think Michelle had some input as well.
Re: 64 Ranger ID
Good information and picture of 64,LOOSRP. So its called sport package in 64. I have same console in my 66. Maybe michelle will chime in for more information. I think 1000 count ranger was from Michelle website for 65 &66. Tony
