'61.
Where did you get those motor mounts?
Are they custom made by you or are they available somewhere else?
I really like this project.
Keep us posted on your progress.
Nice work.
I'm not arguing with you. I'm just explaining why I'm right.
Pardon me. Does your deaug bite?

I made the motor mounts, basic 3/16 plate with 1.5" Dom tubing. Really wide bushing for support, very solid polyurethane. Going to be basically solid mounted. I've seen a few mounts for the 4.6 like the welders series ones but they wouldn't have it this. I planted the motor as low and as back as possible. Fits very well over factory crossmember and just clears steering box.

Been a while. Trucks driving now. Not really ready for daily use but working on it. Poor boy build definitely.

Thing runs great. It's a handful for sure. Drum brakes are fun with a truck that likes to go. Reused as much as I could, tanks not working well, probably going to swap in fuel cell soon and replace
Fuel pump I put in, it was brand new but even though I cleaned the tank I think it's falling apart. Also have to say with the 4.6 traction is a real issue. 4 link is in the near future, and sway bar up front.

This build has my interest as I am looking at going the same direction if things work out.

Brake booster is a real plus when trying to whoa these things down.
I have trying to figure out how to put one in with my 292 in its original position. Have not had an issue with the 223 I6 or the 460 which was installed rather low. I can see that by lowering the motor you have all the room in the world.

Yeah I mounted motor low for lower center of gravity. Fits between wheel wells perfectly. Actually was very amazed how well everything fit. No trimming to any sheetmetal. The exhaust is very tight and just in case anyone trys this, if you run the beam like I did be prepared to change oil pans. I had to convert to a front sump off a Lincoln continental and make a custom oil pickup. Clears perfect now. The clutch was also pretty exciting to figure out. This was a auto truck so I added OE clutch pedal and made all kinda of brackets for the cable clutch. I would highly recommend the swap for anyone looking for modern power. Hardest part is wiring, and even that is totally DIY if you take the time and are careful. Disc brakes are coming, don't know about booster yet. I like the simplicity of it now but safely is important. Also have to do a lot of work to rear, zero traction right now.

Ya need more MEAT out back :D . Heck I would bet my front tires 265-50-15's are wider than what you have on the rear of yours :D.

Lol yeah. These are the tractor tires it came with. Hard and old as heck. Gunna try and stuff some 295's in. Their this weekend. Need different wheels, can't decide on which though.

Cut and extended stock shackles 2.5 inches to get rear down alittle more. Also welders new
Tabs on rearend for shocks to work. Drives much rear now but I don't like the steering. It's alittle all over the place. Debating converting steering to something more modern or try to tighten up old stuff. Sway bar and stabilizer. Anyone done that?
