'66 Slick - frame differences btwn F-100 & F-250?

Post by douglloyd »

Does anyone have photos of a bare '65 or '66 F-250 frame? I was curious as to how different they are from the stock F-100 longbed frame.

thanks,

there is no difference other than the thickness of the steel.the f250 is slightly thicker material.

Thank you - that explains a lot. So the 3/4 ton probably has heavier leafs and different rear axle?

I am considering building up a '66 2WD longbed for long haul towing. I already have a good 352 and several T-18's. No fifth wheel towing, just cargo trailers and car haulers. I have a receiver hitch on one of my F100's and was not sure if this would fit the F250. I was also hoping that a 3/4 ton frame would help add a little more vehicle weight for safer towing.

thanks,

yes dana 60 rear with more leafs and thicker depending on gvwr. factory overloads were also an option bringing it up to (i think) 7700 lb rating.
