Wingshield part number

Post by Uncle Skip »

A while back someone asked about new windshields and I said I would post the number.
Pilkington is a major manufacturer of windshields for Detroit and they still make replacements for Slicks.
This number just happens to be for a green tint and will fit from 61-66 and I was told the 67-73.

Hope this helps.

`A month or two back there was a great debate, on this forum, about the heighth of the windshield's pinch weld in no windshield trim cabs vs "with" windshield (Custom Cab) cabs. I'm now able to see both sides of the debate.
A week or so ago I got on the phone with Unk's part number & was able to locate, here in Tulsa, a Pittsburg Glass new windshield for just $105.00. In the blink of an eye I was down there loaded it up, a half hour later it was laying on a quilt on the bed cover of Ol' Shoe String ready to be installed. I'd had one of Rick Allen's Windshield Seals in the shop sense the late nineties, still supple & fit good. Proper time was spent getting a set of stainless down out of the attic, and cleaned up. That is where the great "Let a pro due such a job" lesson began. Several hours later with the help of my grandson it was in but not to anybody's satisfaction. He hasn't called me sense!
We did a small local car show Saturday, nobody said anything about the not quite seated windshield. Sunday afternoon I went down to the shop , it took less than 15 minutes to have the windshield & trim assembly back out. This morning with the wifes help we were able to put it in before the heat of the day was really on us, about two hours. Both of our fingers are sore to the touch now
The biggest mistake made was telling her the glass shop would have put it in for another $30.00. Probably won't be any lunch! With a little luck I won't have to sleep in the Airstream for more than a couple of nights. WORTH THE COST TO HAVE IT INSTALLED!!!!!

X2; I pride myself on being capable of doing EVERYTHING on my vehicles. That being said; windshields and transmissions are a no-brainer to me; leave them to the people who do them on a daily basis and back up their work!

Yes you can get new " glasss " for a bbw uni be prepared to spend $700.00 for it :D. I found a slick being parted out a couple hours ssouth of me and drove down and pulled the BBW glass out of the back of the cab as well as most of the CC trim and the doors and gladly handed the guy $250.00 before driving back home .

This morning by 8:00 the temp was nearing 85 degrees the humidity was 186% at least, survival required a bare minimum of two fans with one directly on each of us. That's win I swore off windshield installations for good. The transmission thing is a given! Headed for the Rockies, most of my projects will keep till fall!!

Take your fire gear! One of our local members just reported he was outside Colorado Springs; evidently watching the fires and probably partaking of the Kool-aid :P

High of 105 here today. Insufferably hot. Went to Tractor Supply and bought two floor fans for the shop. With 3,000 square feet of metal roof, on a metal building, they're pushing extremely hot (100 degree plus) air at 8000 CFM.

Thanks to a 20,000 sq ft roof, Paradise went over the 117 mark today.
It probably got hotter, but I closed up and went to the house.
When you walk outside and 100 degrees feels like A/C you know its time to piss on the fire and call the dogs. Hunt's over.
