Pertronix need to know info

If you're running a Pertronix 1 on your truck or other Ford vehicle.
If you're vehicle starts acting like it's missing or running rough,
then you need to shim the magnet where it will be level with the
top of the module. Pertronix tech line suggested an o-ring under-
neath the magnet. It's funny that Pertronix knows the problem
but it's not listed on their troubleshooting site or on the install
instructions.

My Mustang started doing this, I tried another coil, replaced fuel
filter, checked timing, cleaned & readjusted carb. If I knew this tip,
it would of saved me some time & money.

Hope this helps save others the grief I had.

I just installed my Pertronix 1281 in my 1964 f100 292 and right from the get go it runs like crap. I swapped back to the points but it still runs as if it's only hitting on 6 cyl. It has a flamethrower coil already. I measured about 6.5 volts on the pos side of the coil. I ran straight 12v to the coil to see if it ran better but no luck. I checked the air gap and it seems to be ok. The magnet is pretty level with the mod.....Im lost. This is my first slick and first Y block. My first thought was to just throw in a 302 or something but that Y block has got me hooked. Just wish things were not as $$$$ for Y blocks. Thank you for your time.

You say it sounds like its running on 6.......
Have you double checked the firing order ?
Maybe 2 wires switched... My
