I just found a '63 F-850 Dump truck in a local Junkyard, It uses the same hood as a f-100 slick, but had a unique hood scoop mounted to the drivers side, of couse I wanted it for my own and pulled it.
I just saw this pic.

Here is the scoop again, on the passenger side.
Was this a factory or dealer option on the larger trucks? I'd just like to know the details as I'm hot rodding my truck, but trying to keep it more or less period correct (all 60's parts etc.)

A littlebit of useless trivia,,,,,,,Pontiac used that Ford hood scoop on their Super Duty cars. Those cars usually ended up on the dragstrips. That makes them darn near sacred to the Poncho nuts and try to get one to admit he has Ford parts on his collector car. LOL
If you drove a Ford, you wouldn't need a good wrench!
I've been hoping I could score a pair of those & mount them on a slick hood, facing forward. They look plain cool.
My "Slickitis" affliction began here...

If it starts to rain, they'll tax the splash.
If you want to fish, they'll tax the bass.
If you plant a yard, they'll tax the grass.
If you don't play nice, they'll fine your *$#!

Thanks for the info... I think I'm going to reverse mine but run it soley on the driver's side. I'm going to be running the stock 223, with a 3x1 intake set up, so I am going to box the underside and let air in from the scoop only.

Reason turned backwards is when the air hits the windshield its forced down in the intake
