460 in a 64

The place to talk Slicks. All we ask is that discussion has something to do with slicks...

460 in a 64

Post by Rusted64 »

Ok, I am sure this has been discussed before, but my searches are not bringing up the answers I need.

Will a ford 460 and auto trans fit in a 64, with original axle and suspension? Engine is from an 85 E350.

I know I will need a crossmember/mount, but I am curious about width, oil pan exhaust, etc.

Let me know if I need to provide more info or if there are other considerations for the fit.

Thanks,

It will fit... Watch out for the manifolds in relation to the steering box and frame rails. You may want to just switch to headers. You will probably have to shorten the drive shaft due to the longer set up. LMC has a kit for the engine mounts, we fabricated a new Trans mount.

Everything else is your typical deal...

Have fun... When she is all done, give her a few pumps on the gas and enjoy how she rocks back and forth!!!

Lol, nah, not just yet.

I saw an 85 E350 with the 460 and auto trans on Craig's list for 500 and it got me thinking. Might be good to get and just store the engine.

Plus the Y has been a little worried from my previous issues.

Still liking it thou.
