1965 300 Water Pump

Post by GJ1963 »

The water pump on the '65 300 6 in my truck was not leaking, but I noticed some slop in the bearing the other day when changing the alternator. Since the truck sat for 30 years with an open cooling system, I figured it should be replaced. I got one from local auto parts store. The hub height is wrong, it is about and inch taller and the hub size is too large. Looking for a correct part number to use or other ideas? All listings I can find don't look right. The part number on the pump that came off is PH 284.

Thanks

They have both the long nose and short nose pumps on rockauto.com. If you have to, get the alternator bracket off of a later model to go with the water pump. Do you have a picture of the water pump?

Ask for a pump for a truck with manual steering no ac.
I had to switch to the longer pump when I added air conditioning.
If it cain't be fixed with a sledge hammer it must be an electrical problem!

Impossible, 240/300 introduced in 1965.

Ask for a 1965/71 Galaxie/LTD 240 waterpump, it's the same puppy as 1965/72 F100/350 240/300: D2AZ-8501-A replaced C5AZ-8501-A
