Removing brake/clutch pedal assembly on a 65' F100....

Post by RedStarr1000 »

Earlier this week I left a post asking how to remove the large clutch pedal return spring. I was told it is easier to remove the whole clutch/brake pedal assembly with all the brackets. So I started last night by unbolting the assembly but I couldn't figure out how to swing it out from under the dash. Do you have to remove the steering collum to remove the brake assembly?

Yes, I believe there's 2 nuts on top on a shelf that hold it up there.

It should be two bolts that hold the column to the bottom of the dash, that screw up from the bottom. You'll probably also need to loosen the 4 bolts that hold the column clamp at the firewall, depending on how far you need to lower the column.
When you drop the column a little, make sure & unplug the turn signal harness, so you don't pull the wires apart. Also, keep an eye on the rag joint at the gearbox, in case it tries to tear from the difference in angle.
