pulling parts off of a 67 and 72 f100, what to look for?

pulling parts off of a 67 and 72 f100, what to look for?

Post by bobenhotep »

I talked to someone on Craigslist who is parting out a 67 and 72 f100. I am going to try to get the brake distro blocks and some stuff off of the dash. Are there any other parts that should be on my "hit list"?

I would not use anything for brakes off the '67 or the '72, even if the '72 has disc brakes, because the optional disc brakes for '72 and earlier do not appear to be the same as those used '73 and later.
Which means the brake distribution block may not work if you are adding '73 style disc brakes.
Just my opinion, as I would hold out for '73 - '79 donors for disc brake parts.
Engines/transmission of course, and power steering ( including the steering column, which looks like a Slick steering column) late '69 and later will work.
Hope this helps.

The distribution block would work for your drum/drum setup; I personally would get a new aftermarket one. with adjustable proportioning valve.
I can't think of anything applicable to your '63 right off. I have a '70 parts truck, and the only thing I've slavaged so far is the p.s parts for my neighbor's '66.
I have had someone inquire about the frame for a '66 shortbed conversion, but I'm like banjopicker; I would strongly suggest a '73-up. I would rather remount the bed than live without the disc brakes.

Thanks. This is starting to remind me of why I got rid of my 223. I felt like Indiana Jones every time I had to find parts for it. I might just have to go get the stuff for a disc conversion and be done doing archaeology to fix things.

If you really want a '70 distribution block, just let me know!
You won't even have to be removing parts in the middle of a New Mexico winter!

Get the carb that goes with the Dura spark, it's different from the Load-a-matic carb.
