Input on truck color
Hello everyone, I'm working on a 65 F250 4wd flareside, I'm having trouble deciding what color to paint it. It was a government vehicle so the warrenty plate was blank in this spot so I guess I'm free to pick a color. I'm open to any suggestions. I was thinking about springtime or Phoenician yellow with white trim. Does anyone have a picture of a slick done in springtime or Phoenician yellow? My other choices are Navajo beige or holly green. Thanks for any suggestions or pictures. Bill.
(btw I love Steve's marlin blue one but I hate to be a copycat)

Re: Input on truck color
Henry Ford will tell you that the color willl be any color you want as long as it is black. Or, if it was a tractor built upto 1947, it would be painted battleship grey.
Color is a personal choice and a personal answer based on project goals and preferences. You color preferences will be a winner and a good choice no matter what you choose. Do ignore Henry Ford's directive; although black is a nice color if done correctly.

With no color code I'd head to the paint store, get the paint chip book, look at the entire FoMoCo line for '65 something will get you attention, good luck.

Graybeard has it right. Ford had some very nice colors and yellow and white just does not sound right to me. I personally like yellow, but not on a 3/4 ton. In fact I'm not crazy about yellow on a slick of any kind, but each to his own. As far a beige, to much pastel for my tastes. I like the idea of a two tone with a metallic beige and dark red/brown metallic bottom. I have two beige trucks just not all that into the color.

Re: Input on truck color
I think navajo beige would be the best. Holly Green would look good too but i think a lot more trucks came in Holly green than the beige. Either one of those would be nice. I think the beige would be nice cause it would highlight the trucks styling where holly green is rather dark, compared.
I dont think the yellow would look that well. I have seen other yellow slicks and it just doesnt look as appealing in my opinion. BTW the only color not available for two-tone with wimbledon white was the chrome yellow(and pure white, obviously). I guess ford knew it wouldnt look good.

Before you tell this fellow Biege or Holly Green you need to look at his album. He may be tired of spraying those two colors!

I thought my color combo sounded bad over the phone when he told me about it but I liked it when I saw it and get a lot of good comments about it.

Re: Input on truck color
Personally, I love the beige. I also very much like Forest Service Green, so my opinion may not be the one to listen to...

Re: Input on truck color
If you have a favorite color GO FOR IT !
If you want a unique truck then by all means go that way, I wouldn't worry about being similar to someone elses truck.

Re: Input on truck color
Rich, you don't like Tweety?
I'm crushed.......
Actually, I was a little skeptical at first but that yellow grows on you. Tweety might be a little bright for this truck, but the '64 (Mustang) daffodil yellow and white makes a very nice combination on a truck and you sure don't see one on every street corner like you do some color combinations.

I'm not arguing with you. I'm just explaining why I'm right.

Re: Input on truck color
You know, there have been a lot of trucks done in two tone that
members have driven to Slick Stock. And, a lot that are way different from the
factory paint scheme. I liked them all, and even the trucks that were sporting 40+
year old patina. Point is, these things are like a canvas. Go as mild or as wild
as you want on them. The only one you have to please is yourself. I have a
particular color in mind for my 64 and will paint it that way no matter what.
And, I like it so much it may end up on some others I have eventually.
Just go for it and show us how it comes out. TR
