Ford duraspark question

Post by truckerdaddy66 »

I'm tring to hook up a dura spark 2 type ingnition on my 300 six.
I'm down to the last 2 wires. The ing. is 1976 and later.I'm using a old chilton book form the 1970's.I've got all the wires done from the box to the distributor these are on a 4 prong plug.the last 2 wires are on a 2prong plug.
I'm not sure about the diagram there is a white and a red wire .I think one goes to ing. solelinoid and one to the run side of ing. switch. :?: :?: :?:

Thanks , Fred

The white wire goes to 12V while cranking, while the key is turned to START. I attached mine to the wire attached to the starter solenoid prong next to the battery supply. This line is active when the key is turned to START.
The red wire runs to 12V while the key is at RUN. I attached mine to a feed off the fuse box, that is hot when at RUN. [/img]

You need a solenoid with two big studs and two little studs. The starter switch is connected to the small stud next to the battery and the "cranking" wire is connected to the small stud next to the starter stud.
