I would not recommend LSD or mushrooms to the average person, but it seems to be working for this guy. Thanks, Lyman.

He built it one piece at a time, and the paint sure looks like lime... and he's got the only one there is around !

I think the gear shifter is about 3/16 too long.

It's a little over accessorized for my taste. I like the flake and the scallops but I think it would have been better had he just kept a more complete truck.
I've never been a fan of the "molded" body around lake pipes. Further, lake pipes belong to the fifties...bellflowers are a 60's mod. I love the fender skirts and would like to find out where he got them or if he just modified some others to fit. The Caddy bumper is a bit much and doesn't really flow to me. The corvette grill insert just doesn't work at all.
The entire grill section kind of kills this truck for me. It would have been better served with some other sort of "floating" treatment or a tube-style grill, which is something I've been toying with myself..

I have never seen Black Gold until now. I am speechless. The chassis on Melba Toast started out as a black and red 76 F150. And I had one bad ass mullet when I was 16. That's all I am going to say....

The first time I ever saw it (years ago) I was instantly rendered speachless.....
Now years later, every time I see it I'm rendered....... well, you know what I'm talking about.

Re: the holy grail of custom slicks!!!!
Regarding the first post and the custom 61 unibody. All I can say is the owner is super cool. Builds custom stuff some of which many of you could only dream about. This man has talent.
I recently posted on this site about an event I was putting together for Laguna Hills High School in So. Cal.
Guess what not one member from Slick 60's responded.
In attendance was this radical 61 uni, A 65 with engine swap. A 65 f600 fire truck and my truck. Also in attendance were two special guests, Mr. Dunham from DJM suspension and John Gilbert from Classic Trucks Magazine.
When John Gilbert was talking with us, (He's the Tech Editor for Classic Trucks) he said this looks like a "Slick 60's" crowd. I told him I posted here and didn't get a single response. He was stunned.
When I contacted Ray, the owner of the Custom 61 Uni you have in the first post, He as well as three others dropped what they were doing for this educational day with students.
So while some of you rag on the truck, the builder, "is one hell of a guy."

Re: the holy grail of custom slicks!!!!
well I wasn't ragging on the truck, but i posted it cause it is so unusual .. If it has anything to do with a slick60's truck i wanna see it.. while I wouldnt build anything like that and prolly couldnt, thats my opinion, when i post what im doing to my truck there is always someone telling me i didnt do something right or whatever, but im not gonna blow a gasket cause someone said something negitive about my truck.. anyway i think the truck is pretty cool kind of george barris like.. but dont get all offended over peoples opinions.. sorry if we offended you and the owner, it was not my intention..
Re: the holy grail of custom slicks!!!!
It takes a lot of talent and completely different tastes than I have to build a truck like that....in the 60's that would have blown minds.
I like original survivors, but I have been told I am too lazy to like anything else..lol.

Re: the holy grail of custom slicks!!!!
Well Chico, I think the thing that comes out of your post mostly is that we didn`t come to your show, some of us just can`t travel that far, or have the time to attend that's life. We also know who John is as he is a member here and seems to be a good bloke!, but the part that got me the most was the part that said " builds custom stuff some of which many of you could only dream about"!, that my friend is a bigger put down than anything anyone else said about the truck and was unfair!. The builder probably is a great guy, but the truck looks like it belongs to The Moscow Circus..........
