Last month, I took the cab off of the frame with my trusty frame hoist. Cab mounting bolts were essentially rusted beyond hope, so I had to break out the Sawzall and hack it free. Considering how totally deteriorated the core support frame holes were, I was expecting the worst with the front cab mounts, but, hey, what luck! Not bad at all.

You can see my cab hoisting strategy in the photo - cut a 4x4 to an appropriate length, drilled a hole in the center, flipped the engine hoist's boom arm over, and stuck the bolt into the hole. Worked like a charm. I tend to work by myself in the shop, so this was a big help.

In other news, I also snagged a mostly-rust-free '65 cab from Tom at Flashback F100s. It's in far better shape than my cab, and is sound in most of the rust-prone spots. Some rust in the driver's side floor, but nothing major. Used the hoist to get that one off of the back of the truck, too.

Over the weekend, I removed the 300, the transmission, and the driveshaft. Hope to finally get this truck down to bare frame this weekend.
