still not starting

Put a new starter switch in, still cann't get it started. It started last week and then I turned the key to start and nothing. Left it to on and started from the starter solenoid. Now it wount start at all. What's the problem? tks. :(

Hi Walt :welcome:
If it was mine I would check the ground cable first then follow the power supply from the battery back thru the system with a meter or probe light.
a couple of quick checks would be to see if your headlights burn when you hit start position on the key switch
If they burn then go out when trying to start check for a bad/weak connection at the battery posts or cable ends.

Is your engine grounded to the frame?

If it cranks by jumping it at the solenoid but not the switch you could check the plugs at the firewall this seems to be a point for trouble on original wiring.

got it started! :D
i removed the ammeter gage to paint my dash.
musta been an open circut b/c i hooked the gage back up and BAM she fired right up. :D :D :D :D
woulda never thought tha'd be it, an unconnected gage...
