Love the site!
My son and I are restoring a '64 Mercury M100 long box. Truck was only on the road for 16 years and sat for ... 34. Its in very good shape for a 50 year old truck especially from my part of the world. My '97 ford pick up has more rust holes in it!
I have to rebuild/replace the front cab supports and part of the floor. For those of done this before what is the way to go for parts? From what I"ve found surfing the net I've only found Carolina Classics that sell the front cab support and floor pan which looks like the bulk of what I need to start. There will be still some fabercating/repacing metal in spots. I have a welders - arc, mig, plasma cutter and more in the shop just ... time is a factor right now so I was thinking these parts would speed up the process. A person could fabricate those supports it looks like but if I remeber right they are not priced too bad. Not sure about shipping though. For now we just want to fix the holes in the floor and get it road worthy/safe for the summer. Then down the road continue on with the rest of work etc. For now the son wants to keep the "old patina" look ...

I got all my cab panels from fellow member Tom at

Good heavy guage steel, much better than the stuff from NPD, LMC, etc...

Re: '64 Cab rust repair - part sources?
First of all welcome aboard from Michigan!
Also, I agree with Lou on Flashback100's, definitely your first choice.
I ended up replacing those parts, and more, on my '61 Uni. Here's a link to a bunch of pictures of the body repair being done, by the shop I'm working with, that I hope will come in handy ... http://olliesshop.smugmug.com/Trucks/20 ... d-at-Shop/ and the build thread on my truck ... viewtopic.php?f=32&t=29505
Also, here's some before shots of how bad it was:
Driver's side ...
Passenger side ...
Here's how it looks now:
With regard to where I got the parts, I ended up getting them from all three, in order of preference.
1. I would first go to Tom at Flashback F100's (http://www.flashbackf100s.com), he has great quality parts and is a member here (6166 Junkyard Dog).
2. Carolina Classics ... http://www.carolina-classics.com/
3. NPD (National Parts Depot) ... http://www.npdlink.com/store/catalog/19 ... 000-1.html
I hope this helps. All the best.

Thanks for the info I've never ran across those other two sites.
Re: '64 Cab rust repair - part sources?
Welcome aboard! Seems that most of the Alberta guys own Mercs now.
Since you were concerned about shipping from the US, most will suggest getting stuff sent by the US Postal Service if it's an option. If it must go UPS, here's some good info on how to avoid brokerage fees:
http://trueler.com/2010/09/13/ups-broke ... -avoid-it/
Basically if your order total is less than $1600 CAD, you can use the procedure detailed above and only pay the actual shipping cost plus applicable taxes and duty. It's extra work but you can save a few bucks that way.
