Who is going to buy your light bulbs?

Post by unibody madness »

I seem to always have a number of rants going on in my head these days. The one about parts made over seas is towards the top of the list, but I am not as fanatical about that as I am about the endless price gouging over these products. Let it be truthfully said that the balance of trade would not be unbalanced if there was not a market for these products. A lot of these parts however are being sold at the same price, had they been made here. A great example would be Red Wing boots. I just bought my yearly set at over Two hundred dollars, on a pay voucher from work (required foot wear), and nearly all of the complying boots they sell, are made in china. Its a fifty dollar boot at best, and the American worker is out of a job.
I make my living in an industry that ships cargo, so in or out of the country, the transportation industry employees continue to thrive. If I choose not to buy these products its because of quality, or availability, but it frosts my gizzards to see a company continue to charge USA made prices on foreign goods.
The real button pusher is the trend to eliminate jobs like check out clerks,to increase even more profit, at the bottom end of the pay scale. I for one will either wait or put the item(s) back if there isn't a checker available
Really? Are we, as a society, in such a hurry that we are willing to eliminate check out clerks, That over paid high end position?
Simple question for those who never seem to find a way to trim costs and not lower prices.

Who is going to buy your light bulbs if there are no jobs? Maybe you can check it out.

You can have your soap box back now

I have owned chippewa, danner and redwing. I check to make sure they are made in the USA. Here's one place to look:

I agree. When Rocky boots sent their business to China they had a article in the Columbus paper about the jobs loss. The founder of the business always said he would rather make 100 dollars one dollar profit on each pair of boots. when his son took over and sent the business to China his son said he would rather make 100 dollars on one pair of boots, or words to that effect. That is just plain GREED!

Hopefully no one will be able to afford his worthless boots... then he can apply for regular welfare.... instead of corporate welfare, when he can't afford his million dollar morgage.
