i think 10" are the smallest
.last 10 i had was 223 3 speed
i replaced with an 11"
i prefer to use the biggest possible clutch made for an engine
gives more grabbing surface just like bigger drums or rotors.
Another 10" vs. 11" clutch question

Re: Another 10" vs. 11" clutch question
I have a 1980 bell and clutch on my truck too. The bigger clutch gives more grab without being harder to release. I have the 11 inch and it works really well, and they are more common than the older ones.

Re: Another 10" vs. 11" clutch question
If I had the choice I would go 11" as well, make sure it will bolt up to the pressure plate.
I might be mistaken but I think the holes might be different, if they match your golden.

Re: Another 10" vs. 11" clutch question
there is a different flywheel for 10 and 11" clutch discs at least for the y and 223. also a 12" for the bigger trucks
theres 11" and 12" for the fe engines.
some flywheels do have both sets of holes, i think those may be aftermarket but i could be wrong on that.

Re: Another 10" vs. 11" clutch question
my 300 had holes for the 10 and 11. If the one Doc has is a 1980 it should too. If you convert from a long clutch to a diaphragm type you have to lengthen the clutch rod.

Re: Another 10" vs. 11" clutch question
towing anything its definitely a plus to have the bigger clutch.
cant imagine you doing many clutch slams, slips or burnouts so you should easily get the 50k miles.
