Very blue 66 project swap
Very blue 66 project swap
Some of you have seen my project thread 'Slo-mo Restomod Project' and I realize many project threads are started here and never come to any completion. With that said the 63 will not be coming to completion, under my ownership anyway. here's the why... So a few days ago on a run by my local scap yard to look at some mustang buckets I heard was there (they were but I didn't buy them) while I'm there I run into this guy and Was having a casual conversation with him. He ask what I was working on and I shared with him about my 63f100. He then says " I know where a really nice 66 is and it's for sale" obviously I ask where and he tells me Its was only a few miles from where we were. So on the way home out of pure curiosity I go looking for it. A few minutes later I've spotted it under a metal car cover at the house his direction lead me to. I thought what'll it hurt to knock on the door and Inquire. To shorten the story after some tough negotiations the next day I picked it up! My project has spun 180° and now the 63 is in the barn and the 66 is in the shop, it's just to nice not to finish it up! Enjoy some pics and i can elaborate more on details later. Yesterday I pulled the 5 liter roller motor and c4 and dropped in the 302/c-6 combo that I've had together for the 63, it looks pretty good and at home if I say so myself! Watcha think?
The drivetrain that came in it.
My engine and transmission installed.

Re: Very blue 66 project swap
If you need a grille, I have a show polished original 66 grille with polished headlight rings. It's in California. I would like $600 plus the ride. If interested, let know.

Re: Very blue 66 project swap
I appreciate you mentioning it but I'm going with a off white painted metal grill and bumper for a more classic 'old truck' look.

Thank man, it been sitting for a while and needs a little buffing here and some cleaning there but it's nothing a little elbow grease and some time won't take care of. It came with a new in the box painless wiring harness so that's the next big task at hand.mercuryv8 wrote:That truck looks great.

Re: Very blue 66 project swap
I really like the old school vise grip steering set up. Nice looking truck.
Re: Very blue 66 project swap
I used a painless kit for a vehicle at work. I was really impressed. Seems like the way too go.td wrote:Thank man, it been sitting for a while and needs a little buffing here and some cleaning there but it's nothing a little elbow grease and some time won't take care of. Re: Very blue 66 project swap
I've achieved a few things!
Got the column mounted and and a new steering wheel on it, still gotta grab a steering coupler to make the connection to the gear box...
Scored this bench seat at the srap yard for 40 bucks. It's in great condition and sits great, at first my plan were to have it recovered but after seeing it in the truck and how well it matches the wood wheel I've decided that tan carpet will tie it all together so I shampooed it real well and it cleaned up nice!

Re: Very blue 66 project swap
Well I got the rear most crossmember out to make room for the fuel tank install. I got it mocked into place and got the lower frame lips reference mark for the material that has to be removed for clearance issues. I'll post more pics when I get it into place and start the plumbing for it.

I like the tires. Are they radials that look like bias ply? From Coker?
Re: Very blue 66 project swap
