Digital gauge and unknown switches on cluster

Post by marty68 »

Hi there! I'm new to the forum and have a couple of questions:

Question 1.....

I'm going to purchase the digital gauge from D*kota Digital, for my '64 pickup, in the next week or so. Just wondering if the one they offer for the 66-77 Bronco will fit in my stock bezel? One of the other parts company offer the Bronco digital gauge a lot cheaper than what D*kota sells them for.

Question 2.....

Can anyone tell me what the heck these push/pull switches are on my stock gauge bezel for (marked in red)? Its been about 2 yrs since i disconnected the gauge cluster because of the restoration and i can't remember. By the way they kind of look factory. Thanks!!

I've only seen switches in the cluster on big trucks. I think they were for top of the cab marker lights and a flasher like on a tow truck. They shouldn't be on an F-100 unless you want to run auxillary driving lights and fog lights.

Well that would make sense. The truck is a 4X4 and it did have the old style revolving amber light and cab lights. I think the truck might of been at one time an old Dept. of Highways truck. Thanks Tracy.

You need to keep that stuff! Is it still a 4x4?

Yes, its still a 4X4. I'm doing a full restoration. I've done most of the upgrades so far, front disc brakes, power brakes, tilt steering, having a snag with the seats out of mid '70s Chrysler New Yorker though. Can't get it to sit right.

As far the revolving light, I'm not planning to put it on. I got from my neighbour though some new old metal cab lights that i do plan on putting on.

I talked to Dakota Digital about the Bronco gauges and they told me that they are different than the Ford P/U. They do make a gauge cluster that will bolt right in to your truck.
I have the gauge sitting here to go in my 63 once I get to that point. Hopefully that will be within the next year or less. I have not tried it but I am confident that it will fit.
Shop around on the internet and some places will give you a break on parts if you order over a thousand dollars. I also have the Dakota Digital Climate Control for the Vintage Air unit that matches the gauges. They should look real good together.
I purchased mine from www.yogisinc.com They are a streetrod supplier and are very good to deal with.
Welcome to the forum
Good Luck,
Kevin

My first thought was clearance lights and I think your special hardware was the answer.

Welcome to the club, lots of information can be gotten from the folks around here.

PS. We do require pictures though.

A yellow revolving light would be legal. Red and blue are reserved for fire, ambulance and police. Just think about the response at a show (especially at night) when you flip on the revolving yellow light! There is a hole in the roof that needs filling, right?

And put some generic emergency service patrol logos on the doors, too.
