I have located a 65 crewcab that is frame less. Have been trying to find a 4 wheel drive frame.
From a 69-72 crew do to length of wheel base being closest.to the 65. Was wondering what else would work without a major fix.
Crewcab frame
Re: Crewcab frame
If it was me (and I wish it was) I would take two frames & join them
That woul be easier than stretching .. Just one connection instead of two

Re: Crewcab frame
Or, for a solution with the absolute least effort, you could just send the cab my way!

Re: Crewcab frame
I agree with Pat. 2 frames into one. With nice thick boxing plates and a K-member to stiffen it up. The longer frame will twist more, so you need to control that with the K-member.
Re: Crewcab frame
The 69-72 stock frame is 1 inch longer than the 1965. Finding one is the problem. The 73-79 is 3 in he's with will need shorting. Was wondering if a 80 or 90 or 2000+ would work and what problems would encounter.

Re: Crewcab frame
It is my understanding that the crew cab frame is not that much longer than the stock frame. They made up for some of the length by shortening the front of the beds. Based on this, I'd agree with lengthening the stock frame.
Re: Crewcab frame
Lot easier to shorten than lengthen IMO.

That's why two frames into one would be my choice
And a good tape measure .... And use it a LOT
Measure plenty... Cut carefully
Even if your only off an inch.... It will show

Re: Crewcab frame
From looking at them up close and personal, the '73 to '79 frame appears easy to alter the wheelbase, then just trim the rear of the frame. My '78 is stretched out to an overall length of 29' and plenty sturdy with the heavy gauge ramp bed. Just looking and lightly comparing mounting points; I believe a later model frame could definitely be made to work. If splicing, I highly recommend a "fish-mouth" cut as well as boxing.
