any good way to get a straight axle with auto column
any good way to get a straight axle with auto column
I've got a uni body I'm wanting to just get on the road for now and I'm wanting to run a c4. Is there any stock auto columns floating around I can hook to the gearbox? I'm trying to avoid cutting a hole in the floor

Yes, but those are rare and expensive. Your talking 250 and up.

Just hook the second/third shift lever to the trans. You will not have a indicator or a neutral safety switch but this would avoid a hole in the floor and get you on the road. IMHO!

I've wondered about that. Also what about swapping guts anyway to find guts from a auto ford or non ford and swap into a 3 speed column

Auto columns are fairly uncommon. I'd post a want to buy here and see what shows up. Or, just jerry rig it and move on. IMHO!

If, you are going to change the setup later to something else to match a front end change , then just do the jury rig. The basic difference in the columns are the tube and the column has a different , smaller slot for the arm. Most of the difference is in the top pieces . I do have one for a 63/4 that I've been saving for years . I bought that one from Bobs f100's about 10 to 15 years ago. I think I paid 150 for it at that time plus shipping, but I may be misremembering. It is supposed to go into my 64 short bed if and when I get around to installing the 429/C6 in the truck and rebuilding it. Another round to-it. If, you can find the upper parts, then you can build a column to fit out of some parts columns.
