Steve: I remember reading my older bro's copies when I was a wee lad:) Man, I'd be scared to admit how many year ago that was!! lol

And the mention of the iron-ons!! I seem to recall both my older bro's having all sorts of iron ons on their jean jackets, etc

I used to read CARToons every time it hit the news stand.
Never did subscribe, but still read it cover to cover. Probably will
subscribe when it comes back out again. TR

My nephew is a cartoonist. He mostly does super hero/monster stuff. Sent him the link and he's going to submit some samples to them. He's also involved in the publishing end and does work for writers that can't draw.

This is one of his:

He remembers reading mine as a little kid so he wants to be a part of this.

Interesting.....

I recently saw a metal sign in Hobby Lobby that depicted a cover of an issue of Cartoons and pointed it out to my wife. She got the full story of how I used to buy that when i was a kid and loved it........ I don't think she fully understood!!

That's awesome. Even I can remember I had few of their magazines when I was young. Does that mean I'm older than I think I am?

When I was a kid we used to visit the used book store whenever we made a trip in to the city, and I would scour the shelves for fresh issues. I'm pretty sure I wore a shirt with a CarToons iron-on to school picture day at one point.

Years later I spent quite a bit of time sketching my brother's 460-powered dentside in the Trosley style. :)

i have several still in a box in the basement. sadly, i used all of the iron ons as they came out. my mom would always know what was up when i brought home a new issue.
