Post by panheadchuck »

OK this is what I have.I have a 61 f100 2wd short box stepside. It is lowered 4 inches in the rear with mono leafs.and 3 inches up front with a 3 in drop axle from nostalgia sid.l'm looking at ordering WV genies 15x8 witth 4 inch in bs. (please chime in if I'm wrong or if you have better idea). I'm looking for some wide whitewall tires(as in tires with wide whites) . I have no idea what size would look good or what particular tire brand. I would like some wider tires in the rear as this truck is a 620 hp 521 scj big block and lentech strip terminator aod. Any help from someone with the similar truck would be great. I want some tires that will really look good as far as size. This is my first slick so help please and thanks.oh steel belted radials please no bias ply

I am running 225/70/15 on the front and 255/70/15 rear. My rear wheels are WV steelies 15x8 and the fronts are stock but reversed 15x6. Some guys run 275/60's or 295/60's on the rear which does look meatier. I have mono's on the front with a 4 1/2" drop and shackles and reversed hangers in the back with 5" drop. Just my :2cents:

One of the threads on here that you might be interested in is Dave's '61 Uni Short Bed Build. I like what he has done...here's a pic of his truck:

Speaking of Wide Whites. I saw a video on Youtube of a Rat Rodder who ground his own white walls using an electric angle grinder and raised white letter tires. Looked pretty easy and really great when he was done. I thought about trying it but I don't have the guts to take a grinder to an inflated tire!

Here is the link ^
This may work for you Chuck. Anyone ever tried this?
